Help for Refugees from the Ukraine

Dear members of the Nuremberg Stake,

we live in a time with many challenges. It is a time when some feel as if they are giving up the “spirit in fear and in anxious anticipation of the things that will come upon the earth.” (Luke 21:26)

At the same time, this time is also a time of hope, learning and faith. The Lord says to us, “I give you my peace; not as the world gives, I give you. Do not frighten your heart and do not despair!”.  (John 14:27)

The conflict in the Ukraine has created a great need on our doorstep. Many people are already on the run, more will follow – they fear for the lives of their loved ones, who have to stay behind. We pray for them. We also pray for our Russian friends who are worried about their family members.

Please include the soldier families from our stake in your thoughts, as they too are experiencing special challenges.

A group of volunteers has found themselves in the Nuremberg Stake who want to help. Under the guidance of the stake presidency and in cooperation with the area presidency, a network is established, needs are identified, contacts to Eastern Europe are used.

We will inform you further if joint aid campaigns, such as packing of parcels or fundraising, are pending and discuss local actions with the ward councils.

Specifically, we have the following request and ask for your feedback.

If you can already support with language skills, contacts, living space for short stopovers of refugees or driving opportunities from the border, please contact us at the contact listed below. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ, we are able to make a positive impact and make a difference.

Thank you very much for your sympathy and cooperation.
